16 May 2012 – New Orleans. LA E. Gulf Regional Meeting (S Atlantic Region also invited)

Mark your calendar for the night of May 16, 2012. We will convene a meeting of the National Association of Marine Surveyors at the fine dining establishment of the “Steak Knife” Restaurant at 888 Harrison Avenue in Lakeview (New Orleans). Our guest speaker will be naval architect and marine engineer, Mr. Brandon Taravella.

Brandon Taravella, received his PhD. in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the School of NAME (Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering) at the University of New Orleans in 2009. He is currently employed as an Assistant Professor at UNO and teaches courses in Stability, Ship Dynamics, Marine Vibrations and High-Speed Hydrodynamics. He is also a partner of Pelican Marine Design, LLC. Pelican Marine Design, LLC is a small Louisiana licensed naval architecture and marine engineering firm that specializes in structural design, stability analysis, ship motions, piping design and towboat repair.

Cocktails commence at 6:00-6:30 with dinner and meeting at 7:00. Details of the menu along with the cost of the meal will be for forthcoming soon. In the meantime please let me know by whatever means whether you will attend as we must give a firm number to the restaurant to avoid unnecessary expenses.
